Steve joined Washington Green art publishers in 2004 with a buzz and excitement that his artwork typically creates. Incidentally, he signed at the same time as artist Paine Proffitt & their work was exhibited at that years Spring Fair.
This particular artwork and its sister piece (the standard edition 'Hand In Hand') where produced at the time in conjunction with BBC Children In Need and a donation for each one would have gone to the charity at the time of their production.
Steve Johnston was particularly proud to be working for such a worthwhile cause.
Always looking to create a piece of happiness and motivation for his viewer, Steve commented at the time: 'I'm always after mood and atmosphere in my work and I hope with this picture that I've created a symbolic and positive image.' - Did you notice, the two children are of course both holding none other than 'Pudsey' the bear!
These deluxe versions come with an original pencil remarque at the bottom of the limited edition print (that the artist has personally drawn) and we have blown this one up at the bottom of the photo provided to show you and example (so it appears twice on the stitched image)
Each pencil remarque is an original, unique and therefore the one you have will be different to this and that's exciting to think about it.
