Sue Hemming was born in Birmingham in 1956 and is the wife of famed canine artist Nigel Hemming.

From a very young age Sue enjoyed painting & drawing and as she got older her skill set became more sophisticated. Initially working in the business world, after training as a secretary, she moved into what was then the family business until her first child was born in 1985 and she became a full-time mother.
On marrying Nigel in 1982, their shared creativity was a real boost for her to return to her love of arts and crafts, which she continued to do in her spare time.
In 1998 Nigel and Sue set up Nigel Hemming Editions (NHE), as Nigel became a 'self-published' artist who would supply artwork directly to galleries (previously he has been distributed by art publishers). On his encouragement, she produced images to become limited editions prints; her first editions where a set of four naive cats, released to an overwhelming positive response!
More limited editions followed, continuing the theme of ‘cats,’ with each selling equally well to the various trade accounts and galleries NHE supplied to. So far there have been 26 separate limited editions titles, with many becoming complete ‘sell outs.’
Sue is a great animal lover, and this has always inspired her art, particularly cats, and her quick wit and sense of humour shine through in her paintings.
