Surprise by Doug Hyde

A special release for Christmas 2009 and Doug has simplly called the sculpture 'Surprise.'

Perhaps the character is giving himself as the gift, or he is hiding one until the right moment? as he has covered himself almost completely with a giant red bow!

'Surprise' (2009) has proved to be a very sort after limited edition print by Doug's many collectors. Apart from the obvious connotations from the title for giving the piece as present, it is of course a gorgeous artwork in its own right – as is its sister piece the 'Surprise - sculpture.'

Notice the fantastic use of shading and colour variation Doug has used on just the red bow itself and I believe he did this using only pastels! There is a depth and richness to this print, we haven’t seen in sometime.

The public often seek to purchase this one and the similarly titles: 'The Gift' (2010), as these make stunning and meaningful gifts.
