Born in Kent in 1977, artist Will Kemp has acclaimed success across the UK, exhibiting in numerous prestigious galleries and taking his works nationally, the continuing success of his artistic growth is the balance between adopting traditional techniques, whilst still creating a somewhat minimalist contemporary interpretation on his landscape subjects.
The contemporary take on his subject matter is not only seen through the vibrant and playful colours he uses to depict, more often than not, beach scenic views, but they are situated across the canvas with single strokes, to get the desired innovative affect, thus making Kemp stand out from his contemporaries.
Favouring the medium of oil paint, Kemp uses this medium regularly and may sometimes transfer to acrylics in order to under layer his works.
Education wise, Kemp embarked on a foundation course in Kent and then went onto further studies in Staffordshire where he completed a degree in Fine Art attaining BA Hons. Nostalgia of being by the coast and the open spaces of the landscapes in both Scotland and Cornwall has hugely influenced his workings, this along with the beauty that Italy had to offer to him on his travels, in which he took time out to embark on after his graduation.
Will Kemp now calls Cheshire his home and this is where he exhibits frequently. Other renowned galleries in which his work has featured include The Royal Society of Portrait Painters in which he exhibited and also in London at Mall Galleries. The artist has also achieved winning several awards and painting prizes over the years.
